Vintage Earrings into Stylish Rings.

These cute rings are made from Vintage earrings. Someone gave me  a box of old vintage costume jewelry and there was some miss matched earrings in the bunch. I made them into cute rings. They are easy to make and fun to wear.

Here is how you can make some for yourself.

Supplies:
Heavy Duty Glue. I like E6000
Old Earrings.

Ring Base. I got these at Michaels Craft Store.

Pliers or Cutters to get the backs of the earrings off.

First you want to take your pliers and get the backs off the earrings. Try to get as much off so that the backs are as flat or close to it.

If your ring base has prongs like mine did you will need to remove those as well.

Glue the earring on top of your ring base. You may have to prop it up like this.
Just enough so that the base does not slide off the earring.

Leave them alone for a few hours and you will have fun cute one of a kind rings to wear!

These can make for cute gifts as well.

Recycled Coasters into a Halloween wall hanging.

This little wall hanging is made out of drink coasters. I recycled them into a wall hanging. This will be sent to a swap partner. I just love it and I am going to have a hard time letting it go.

What I did was take 4 drink coasters, paint, scrap book supplies, stamps, ribbon, distress paint and glue.

Paint the coasters black and grey. I like to mix the paint around to make streaks, gradients and uneven looks to the back ground. After that is dry I stamped with a spiderweb stamp in bright green on the back ground. Then decoupaged the papers on top of that. These was from a booklet of holiday images. They worked perfect on this. Once that was dry I stamped more spiderwebs in green. Then added a silver distress paint that crackles on top of that. The overall look is so awesome. The top coaster is simply a frame that said Happy Halloween on it. It was a cheap sticker from the dollar store. The cat is just a simple sticker. The distress paint made it look old and it went with the other images pretty well I think. The skull guy at the top is from the dollar store and painted with more distress paint. And the ribbon is again a dollar store item. Its nice ribbon with wire in it. I was surprised how nice it was. And on back of the coasters I glued down scrap book paper to finish it off.

This is a fun easy project. You can even do it with older children in any theme for a fun decoration for their room.

What is better yet is you can recycle, use up some craft supplies and get a fun new decoration for your home.

Wonderful Wednesdays

Happy Wednesday to you. We all know over the hump day and wacky Wednesday. I thought I would make a series of Wonderful Wednesdays! After all we are halfway through the work week. We are tired, cranky, just want Friday to get here faster, I thought it would be great to post things that are wonderful about Wednesday. And why not. We all need a little inspiration, or positive thoughts in our lives from time to time.

This is part of the view I get to see each and every morning before heading into work. The sun rises just beyond that little hill there. The sky color changes depending on the weather. Today the sky was a wonderful blue color with pink streaks going through it. Often I am tired in the morning and just getting inside the building is a chore. But if I look over toward that tree line and pay attention to the sun and the sky I will often see God's Wonderful works displayed larger than life itself for me to take a moment and just take it in. Just makes going into work just a little bit better for the day.

Monday, views, clouds and nice things

Happy Monday to everyone. It's a beautiful day here in PA. Its mild, the sun is out and its just a perfect fall day.  I went into work today and all went smoothly and it was a non stress kind of day. Love coming home and not feeling tired and sore because there was so much I had to do. So this is a great way to start the week.

So onto some photos!! I love taking photos. So enjoy.

This is a farm down the road from me. It is so pretty all year long. The deer like to hang out in the field there.

Same field different angle.

This was the same down and further down the road. It went from sunny skies to dark and rain filled clouds.  That is how it is in PA. You never know what the weather is going to do a mile down the road from you.

Hope you had a wonderful Monday.

Recycled bottles into Incense burners.

From time to time I like to burn incense. It smells good and when I get the house all nice and clean and I settle down for the day I like watching the smoke flow around giving the room a aroma of sweet flowers or whatever I pick for the day.  My favorite incense are the homemade ones. Just seems like the fragrance last longer and smell pretty much the same once it's burn as it does on the stick.  But I found that at Five Below they have some good incense sticks as well and works when I do not get to my favorite festivals to stock up on the homemade ones.

If you burn incense you know how messy it can be. You have a choice of a small ash catcher that sits on your table and when you burn a few sticks you have a small ash mess on your table.

I came across the bottle idea earlier this year at a show. My daughter and I was enjoying going through the incense sticks when I spied some interesting looking bottles. The
woman told me someone made them and she was selling them for her. Me being someone who is crafty took a good look at it and decided I can make my own and make it a little better!

This is the red one I created. Simple enough. I found that spray paint sticks best to the bottle. And it splatters well too for a neat effect. The incense stick holder is some steel wire bent into a shape so that it sits on top of the bottle and is also useful and decorative.

The holes at the bottom of the bottle let the smoke out and gives some air into the bottle also.
These keep the ash inside the bottle and off your table. You can clean them out with just running water through them.

Here is another bottle I made. Silver and black.

You can find these in my Etsy shop. Dlstein designs. I am working on getting this shop up and running again. I am working on improving some things and adding a variety of things to this shop.

Happy Sunday everyone.

King Buster Cat.

This is Buster Cat. He thinks he is King of our household. Yesterday he caught me a mouse and left it right where I would notice it. Nice of Kind Buster Cat to do that for me.

Buster is a 20lb cat and just not any cat bed will work for him. I had a big produce box from the store and an old blanket and he decided he liked that pillow. Simple and easy a bed made for a Cat King is made.

It was a Pringles can.

It's done. I love repurposing things that might normally get tossed out. I have seen lots of Pringles cans made over on Pinterest. And lots of altered art projects use old maps. I had old maps, a old childs bird book and a bit of lace and a small bird from the dollar store.

I made the bird a little nest out of lace.

Birds all over this can over the map.

The materials I used was:
An Old map
Old Childs book
Americana Decoupage. By Deco Art. It was a little less expensive than Mod Podge and I get the same results.
Distress Crackle Paint by Ranger. I really love this product. It is so easy to use and the effect is great.
LA Colors shimmering eye shadow. Found at the Dollar Tree! I just sprinkle this over and rub it into my project. It gives a nice shimmer effect. Then put on last layer of Decoupage glue over it to seal it in.

The lid on the can works so this can be used to store pencils, paint brushes or anything that is not wet.

I am going to send this to a person in my swap group. It will be a surprise. :)
